Sexual assault or harassment that occurred during military service. The VA has special rules making MST-related PTSD claims easier to prove.
Why This Matters
MST claims don't require the same level of proof as other PTSD claims. 'Markers' like sudden performance drops, requests for transfer, or behavioral changes can help establish that MST occurred.
Example
A veteran's service records show excellent performance reviews until 2009, then sudden disciplinary issues and a hardship transfer request. These 'markers' support the MST claim even without an official report.
