A C&P exam done by reviewing your medical records only, without an in-person examination.
Why This Matters
Sometimes the VA determines an in-person exam isn't needed because your records contain enough information. ACE exams are common for clear-cut cases or when adding a secondary condition with strong documentation.
Example
You file for tinnitus with strong service records showing hearing damage. The VA does an ACE exam - the examiner reviews your records and provides an opinion without seeing you in person.
