Healthcare coverage for dependents of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled - similar to TRICARE but through the VA.
Why This Matters
The Civilian Health and Medical Program of the VA covers spouses and children of P&T veterans who aren't eligible for TRICARE. It covers most healthcare services with low cost-sharing.
Example
A veteran is rated 100% P&T. Their spouse, who isn't eligible for TRICARE or employer insurance, enrolls in CHAMPVA and can see civilian doctors with the VA covering most costs.
