Education benefits for dependents (spouse and children) of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled or who died from service-connected causes.

Why This Matters

Dependents' Educational Assistance (DEA) provides up to 45 months of education benefits. Children can use it between ages 18-26. Spouses have 10 years from the date of P&T determination or the veteran's death.

Example

A veteran is rated 100% P&T. Their 19-year-old daughter can now use Chapter 35 benefits to attend college, receiving a monthly stipend while enrolled.
