Secondary Service Connection
VA Terminology Definition
Plain English Definition
When a NEW disability is caused or made worse by a condition you're ALREADY service-connected for.
Why This Matters
Secondary claims are often easier because you already have service connection for the primary condition. Many veterans miss secondary conditions they could claim.
Example
You're service-connected for a knee injury. The knee problem causes you to limp, which leads to hip pain. The hip condition is 'secondary' to the knee.
