Separate Ratings for Flexion and Extension Limitations
Summary
The VA General Counsel held that separate ratings may be assigned for limitation of flexion and limitation of extension of the same leg. If a veteran has compensable limitation of both flexion and extension of the knee, two separate ratings can be assigned under diagnostic codes 5260 and 5261 respectively.

When This Applies
If you have significant limitation of both bending and straightening your knee, you may be entitled to two separate ratings. This is often overlooked. Review your examination - if you have limited flexion AND limited extension, make sure you're receiving separate ratings for each.
